Worship and Music"I will sing and make music with all my soul. Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, higher thant the heavens."
Psalm 108:1b-5 At Fifth Avenue, we find great joy in making and enjoying music together, and you are welcome to join us. We believe that worship is communion with God in which believers be grace center their mind's attention and their heart's affection on the Lord, humbly glorifying God in response to His greatness and His word. Yes, worship is very important to the life of Fifth Avenue. We believe that how we worship shapes how we live. We believe that corporate worship does not focus on the individual, though neither does it exclude the individual; rather, it invites, welcomes, respects, and includes. Worship has a distinctive role, for, while it will contribute to the health of every other aspect of life at Fifth Avenue, worship will surpass all of them in forming Christian community. We believe that corporate worship should so engage us and perplex us that we would strive to grow spiritually every day. And, we believe that while the "benefits" of worship certainly do exist, they are the products of a vital relationship with God. So, please come and join us as together we sing and make music to praise the Lord! All are welcome and as the old Zimbabwe proverb says, "if you can walk you can dance, if you can talk you can sing."
